Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King is the
Dave Matthews Band's 7th studio album, and their first since 2005. It was released on 2 June, 2009. The album's title is derived from two things: the last recording sessions, which took place in New Orleans; also, the death of founding saxophonist LeRoi Moore (the GrooGrux King). "Funny the Way It Is", "Why I Am" and "You & Me" were released as singles. Several pieces of music were completed before Moore's death; some of them made it onto the album.
A "super deluxe box set" version of the album included a bonus EP called
Little Red Bird; in addition, the European release of the album contained two bonus tracks.
