THE INDEPTH CNN ONLINE ARTICLE: NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (AP) -- The FBI is reviewing a white supremacist Web site that purports to list the addresses of five of the six black teenagers accused of beating a white student in Jena and "essentially called for their lynching," an agency spokeswoman said Saturday.

Sheila Thorne, an agent in the FBI's New Orleans office, said authorities were reviewing whether the site breaks any federal laws. She said the FBI had "gathered intelligence on the matter," but declined to further explain how the agency got involved.

CNN first reported Friday about the Web site, which features a swastika, frequent use of racial slurs, a mailing address in Roanoke, Virginia, and phone numbers purportedly for some of the teens' families "in case anyone wants to deliver justice." That page is dated Thursday.

"This is a test for the disposition of the Department of Justice to serve as an intervener and a deterrent" to hate crimes and discrimination, Jackson said. He said federal marshals should protect the families.

Carolas Purvis said she did not feel in danger. Purvis is the aunt of Bryant Purvis, who has yet to be arraigned. She said she has received a number of calls, some from people who say nothing, others to let her know that her number had been put on the site. One, Friday night, used the N-word to her young son, she said.

A dispatcher for the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Department said no one in the office Saturday could say whether any threats had been reported.

Of the two other numbers listed as "active" on the Web site, one was not answered Saturday; the other yielded a constant busy signal.

On Thursday, thousands of demonstrators marched in a civil rights demonstration in support of the so-called "Jena 6."

Of the six teens arrested, five initially were charged with attempted second-degree murder; charges for four have been reduced as they were arraigned. Charges against the sixth teen, booked as a juvenile, are sealed.

Mychal Bell is the only one to have been tried so far. A state appeals court recently threw out his conviction for aggravated second-degree battery, saying he couldn't be tried as an adult. He remained in jail pending an appeal.

2007-09-25 [Molly Louise]: This made me very angry. Racism is still alive in 2007, much to the shame of our government and judicial system. Where is true justice?

2007-09-25 [My Own Darc Nightmare]: The boys did beat another boy you know? It was a six on one fight, how can they not be punished for it? All around us will be racism, and the white boy may have been wrong to say what he did, but he didn't deserve to put in the hospital.

2007-09-26 [Cadet]: I agree that the boys should be punished but the fact that they're black shouldn't be used against them, it's just not fair,no he didn't deserve to be put in the hospital, but no they don't deserve the kind of treatment that they're given either.

2007-09-27 [Molly Louise]: I think it's complete and utter bullshit that the boys who put nooses in the tree haven't gotten charged with a hate crime, and the six boys, granted they did beat the crap out of the white kid, are getting charged with attempted murder. Their "murder" wearpon was a shoe that was still attached to somebody's foot!

2007-09-29 [My Own Darc Nightmare]: Well sure, but they never actually hurt anyone. I mean, you go through school and you hear/see threats all the time, none of them get in trouble. The group of boys actually hurt someone.

2007-09-29 [Obsidian Panthera]: You can't tell me that if someone was insulting you, making racial slurs at you, hanging a noose over a tree, that you wouldn't attack them. Seriously.

2007-09-29 [Cadet]: and besides at my school those people who make threats do get punished so, no offense but that statement doesn't sit well with me.

2007-10-02 [Molly Louise]: Just because he was insulted doesn't mean that he should have beaten the snot out of that kid. It was what, six on one? What kinds of odds are those?

2007-10-02 [Obsidian Panthera]: The kid was asking for it. That's like trying to say that someone you see (and don't like) makes you decide you're going to insult them. Let's say they have friends with them. Are you not expecting to have the crap beat out of you?
Or even better. The U.S. invades Iraq because they felt like it. (More or less) Did they not expect, anticipate and be warned about being hated and unsupported by everyone and attacked back from the Iraqi?
Wouldn't you attack someone if they invaded your house, home or most importantly, pride?

2007-10-10 [My Own Darc Nightmare]: "Wouldn't you attack someone if they invaded your house, home or most importantly, pride?" ----> 9/11 and about the boys, what they did obviously didn't help. There are better ways to deal with racism on a small scale like that.

2007-10-10 [Obsidian Panthera]: 9/11 Was different. We were invaded and attacked, and we did retaliate, but not in the right way or to the right people. We went from finding Osama and his group (I forgot the name, Al Queda I think?) to invading Iraq and messing with things that didn't have to do with us. Bush started an attack out of confusion and spite, and to calm the majority of the U.S.
The racism with the boys is tough to decide...The racism that they were facing was not going to change any way they dealt with it; it was a catch 22, to either attack or continue to be put down. At least because they attacked and showed the rest of the country what kind of racism they were dealing with, people could respond to it and help them.
