Above All Beauty

A story like mine should not be told, for it should not have happened to someone like me. I once lived a life of freedom and love, I knew nothing of war, death, pain, or suffering. I was, how you say, sheltered. I was soon to be married to his Royal Majesty's son Hakai, and soon I would rule along side Hakai as his queen, but then i still knew very little of the suffering outside of the palace walls. Not long after we were married, our great nation was attacked, we were in danger of losing the war. In an attempt to salvage a victory, my husband volunteered to lead our best soldiers into battle. Victory was near, until Hakai was killed. Shot in the heart by an arrow, he could not be saved, and without his command, his men perished too. The saddest day of my life was burying my husband. Soon our palace was invaded, they forced our beloved king to sign a treaty, announcing our surrender. After it was signed, he was killed. I was in my room, awaiting my execution when Katsu arrived he smuggled me out of the palace and hid me deep within the village outside the palace walls. Soon i heard rumors of my suicide, obviously my escape was being covered up. All i could think about was how mad i was. These men came out of nowhere, they ruined my life, they took my home, my future and most importantly my beloved husband Hakai. In secret Katsu and I began to form the resistance. It was time to take back what was ours. I spent years, training, building up my strength to take back my home and put things right once again.
My name is Naomi, and I am the rightful Queen of this land, and I will take back what is mine in the name of my King, and my beloved husband Hakai.
